The Pastoral Search Committee Concludes the Search

 It is time to Rejoice!!

At last we are able to introduce you to the Pastoral Search Committee’s choice for the new Pastor at First Congregational Church in St. Clair. He is the Rev. Rob Hunter of Atlanta, Georgia.   On Sunday June 6, 2010, Rev. Hunter delivered a message at our worship service, followed by a Congregational Meeting where members of First Congregational Church, UCC of St. Clair voted unanimously to select him as our new Pastor. After many months of searching and prayer, reviewing over 80 possible candidates, listening to sermons, conducting interviews by phone and in person, your Search Committee came to a unanimous conclusion.

As one of his references stated, “Rob Hunter is a true shepherd in every sense of the word, guiding people toward their potential in God and demonstrating His unconditional love. Rob is a leader, stirring motivation and commitment from those under his care. He is an excellent teacher of God’s Word, unfolding the truth of Scripture with relevant applications and insightful principles.”

We are confident that we will be energized and challenged by Rob’s preaching, learn and grow from his teachings, appreciate his quiet manner, thrive and grow under his leadership, as Rob and his wife Zully become members of this congregation and community.

Rev. Hunter began his ministry with us on Monday, July 5th with his first Sunday of worship July 11th.

The Pastoral Search Committee thanks you for your prayers and patience in this important journey.

Survey Results

The Church Surveys were mailed to 180 individual members and/or active participants in the Church.  Seventy-two surveys were completed and returned; giving us a response rate of 40%.  Information was gathered in the following areas of our Church Life:

Personal Information;  Church participation; views of our Organizational Characteristics; sense of congregational identity; views about the facilities; best and worst times for programs; views on the Bible, Sin and Salvation; and God and Justice.

A PowerPoint presentation covering the above areas was presented and factually given with some interpretation to the Search Committee.  Using this data, it is the responsibility of the Search Committee to complete the Local Church Profile forms.  When the Profile is completed and posted, other pastors from within the UCC may officially apply for the Pastoral position.  We have a goal to have the Profile completed for fall applicants.

Information from the Surveys is available in a PowerPoint summary.
