Renovating for our 175th Anniversary

We are going through a major internal renovation. Approved in December 2007, the renovations were completed in June 2008 to coincide with our 175th Year Anniversary Celebration.

Due to the diligence of one of our members, local and family foundations were contacted to determine if grants were available.  “Quite surprisingly, our foundation sources were exceptionally generous, in fact it was close to a miracle”, said Ken Schultz, project coordinator of the sanctuary enhancement project.  A major gift from another prominent member of the church was the tipping point to move forward on sanctuary enhancements.

During the renovation, we worshipped in Fellowship Hall:Worshipping in Fellowship Hall

Total cost for the 7 renovation components was about $165,000.

1) Replace the old worn out pews with new radial pews; and install and relocate the sound panel with a new A/V sound cabinet.
2) Reconstruct and level out the front platform area; and relocate the piano, clavinova, and organ into one convenient access cluster on the platform.
3) Replace all carpet in sanctuary, lounge, annex hallways, (not offices), stairs, vestibules and library; replace upstairs kitchen floor with non-skid vinyl flooring.
4) Replace lounge furniture with flexible seating for meetings and conversation arrangements.
5) Paint and patch sanctuary and lounge ceilings, walls and all window reliefs.
6) Hang the projector, and center the screen.
7) Repair and clean the Mary Moore window.
