The year is nearly half over!  How time flies.  Mission is evident at First Congregational St. Clair in a rich and meaningful way.  We continue feeding and clothing the marginal with our efforts at Harbor Impact and the Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Our Little Food Pantry is intact, but we’re looking to move it to get it out of the sun.  We helped Kids in Distress with their changeover to spring/summer clothing for the families.  We continue to support our children, Rikki and Paulo through Child Fund International.  It’s all good!  It’s all working together for Christ in this place.  We had people participating Kids Against Hunger at St. Peter’s.  Thank you everyone!

Our May Day baskets were appreciated by so many people in our church and in our community.  Thank you Lyndsey Fox for coordinating this event and for the people who packed “baskets” and delivered them.  We also support our members with cards and calls and visits.  Thanks to all who participate.

Financially, we continue our giving to Our Church’s Wider Mission and participate in the Special Offering held throughout the year.  In June, we will be collecting The Strengthen the Church offering.  Please read the article found in this month’s “Channel”.  We continue to be so generous in our time and treasures.

An opportunity in the horizon is available.  I hope you will consider joining us in Biloxi, Mississippi for our second trip to Back Bay Mission on October 29, 2018 until November 4, 2018.  The UCC in Romeo has six people willing to join us.  We need a commitment of about 20 persons.  We are about half way there.  Please pray about it and talk to me or Pastor Alana to participate in a very rewarding and fun-filled event.  Go to Back Bay Mission’s website at www.thebackbaymission.org to see more information.  We had 11 go from this church in 2016 and everyone had a wonderful time.  The accommodations are very comfortable and we will be directed to areas where we can best utilize our talents, whether we are carpenters or cookie bakers!  It’s still 1 ½ years away, but dates fill up fast!

Thank you all for everything you do to support our mission program here.  We will be having an organizational meeting in August, so please consider joining us!

Mission and Ministry Chair,

Mary Ann Martin
